The Vault: Japanese Chophouse

Me and a buddy stopped by here this week for dinner. We had a great meal and were able to order from both The Vault menu and The Pub menu. We ordered A LOT of food and everything was excellent. We started with the BBQ Eel, steamed and fried gyoza (the sauce here was amazing - common trend for the evening) and the fried chicken from the pub menu. I ordered the Australian Filet and my friend had the 14 ounce NY Strip (ordered rare and delivered exactly as requested). The steaks were very flavorful and the Australian Filet was seasoned with just the right amount of pepper. We tried one ramen bowl and I had the crab fried rice - these two were not my favorite items, but they were still high quality. The best part about the meal and the evening was the excellent service that we received from every person we encountered. A big shout out and thank you to the General Manager, Joe, who wears many hats and really makes sure to deliver a great experience to all guests.

Food was fire and our server was the man. The building and aesthetic they’ve got going on in there is beautiful.

Outstanding Japanese steakhouse in a beautifully refurbished historic bank building. Includes intimate seating in and around the old bank vault serving steak house fare with a Japanese flair. Many sauces and sides available with the fried rice and wasabi mashed potatoes to die for. Then the beef! With or without the many sauces it was cooked to perfection and Chris paired it with a great red wine. Also the seafood tower appetizer was out of this world and could pass as an entree for a lighter meal. Although only opened about a month ago this place will be an institution in Albany soon.

First time at the Chophouse itself. We made a reservation right through open table very easy and even while we were at the izakayatfor some aperitifs next door they already knew who we were and said our table will be ready whenever we are so that was awesome. First off the atmosphere is a 10/10 it's so cool in there, dining withing the old bank safe and it feels extremely upscale. Service was impeccable they were always checking in on my wife and I (and it was our anniversary so they took extra care). Joe the main manager was attentive and caring about us, Josh the beverage manager gave us a great curated sake tasting and a special glass of champagne to start our meal! We were also given a complimentary delicious in house baked bread roll and red bean paste that was awesome (a little sweet for my wife but I loved it!) The apps were awesome the Seafood tower was full of lump and delious fresh fish, tuna, salmon, yellow tail, avocado fantastic. Well worth the price. They also gave us a special seared Unagi (eel), on the house, which was awesome! Super flavorful and bursting with umami flavor! The main course consisted of 2ain dishes and 3 sides. Chris, Greg, and Joe were all awesome. The food was delicious, it’s a beautiful atmosphere, but the service is what made my night. I will definitely be back here! If you haven’t been yet, make sure you go check it out. My mom and I had a great experience. Enjoy the pictures!
